Review: Deadpool and Wolverine: Marvel's heartbreakingly

In addition to being self-aware from the viewpoint of the main character, DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE is a highly self-aware Marvel Studios production that recognizes what has and hasn't done effectively in the past on Sadisflix. Like in the previous Deadpool adventures, Wade enjoys ridiculing the many characters and events in the movie and often breaks the fourth wall to speak with the audience. In fact, he even throws in a few allusions to the actors' real lives. Here, Reynolds is relishing the opportunity to fully embrace the comic while yet delivering some lovely emotional turns to give the part some further nuance. In the role of Logan/Wolverine, Jackman excels.

This reminds me a little bit of a buddy cop movie, with two guys who obviously don't get along or belong together but nonetheless have to work together to accomplish a similar objective. In some respects, it's also a redemption story for Wade, who is yearning for meaning in his life, and Logan, who wants to make amends for his previous transgressions. Emma Corrin does a great job portraying Cassandra Nova as a villain; nevertheless, I think her character development might have been improved since we never really understand why she is the way she is. This can occasionally be an issue with these Marvel.

Though primarily played for comedy, the battle scenes in this film are quite brutal and graphic, possibly the most Rated-R gore you'll ever see in a superhero film. This isn't quite as safe to watch as the other Marvel movies, so you might want to reconsider taking the kids. And save from one rather funny incident, all of the previously described conflicts are intricate and protracted. There's even an extremely vicious combat scene that happens solely inside a car. Levy dives into the action and brutality, giving you a lot of action and violence for your money. Not only is this a film based on characters from comic books, but it also has the vibe of a comic book movie.
